Cat bypass pipes

Anyone running them?

From the videos I've watched, they sound spectacular, but I'm curious how much louder the interior noise will be. Thanks.

Electronic cut-outs are really popular with the domestic V8 crowd, especially the sedans for some reason. On those, I suspect they cause torque loss unless near redline.

Not sure how an import motor would react, and if it would boom in the cabin. I'm curious as well.

My set will be in in just a couple days, so I'll give my impressions ASAP. At $650 it is hard for me to swallow, but I found a new (cheaper) set of fabspeeds from a guy that never installed his and sold the car so I'm excited to try them.

Thanks, Robby. Looking forward to hearing your impressions. The Fabspeeds were the ones in the videos I watched.

You still have primary cats and mufflers, so I don't think it will make it too loud. Fabspeed said it wasn't bad in the cabin.

They also report a max gain of 17HP on a Turbo. Even if it is 10 it's worth the money. Turbos quiet things down so on normally aspirated they may up the noise more.

I have read lots of reports of rattling. But that may be attributed to improper installation and/or the old hanger design. They have purportedly updated the newer ones.

I can't wait to hear your report. You could find a section of open road outside of town and do some timed 10mph to 100mph runs with cats and then test it again with the straight pipes. That should give us a good indication if there is any power gains to be had. Try and do it on days with similar weather and with the same amount of fuel in the tank.

I'm probably getting a set for my GTS when it arrives.

I just installed the Fabspeed Catbypass on my GTS, and all I have to say is !!

In normal mode it still quite calm, you can hear more low-end frequency, deeper sound. Inside the car, still quiet. My wife did not notice I installed the pipe when normal mode is selected. (That is a 100% good point of the sports exhaust system)

Fun part is the sports mode! You hear the engine shout out, and the back-fire popping sound is so addicting. At high rev, there is Roaring Sound!

Interior sound is still good after install. You don't get bad resonate.

I'm a total n00bie when it comes to this mod. How easy is it to swap out? Is it a one man DIY type of job?

Had a set of sharkwerks bypass pipes on my 958 CTT. It gave more of a V8 rumble under load without any resonance or increased interior noise. It also decreased turbo lag a lot, which is needed on a stock CTT. Then I added the ecu tune and that totally transformed the car.
I still have mine for sale
PM me if interested.

$450

So they sound good. How about performance improvements on non turbo Cayennes? Sharkwerks no longer offers the pipes. I wonder if they had issues? How do they differ from Fabspeed's zzzspeed?

You have to call Sharkwerks and ask them why they stopped production. I had zero issues with mine and for the price they are a must have mod for this type of car. They will not give us much HP gain on a non turbo model but will probably enhance the V8 growl even more. The tunning shop who installed my pipes and removed them when I sold it, said that he can't imagine any difference between Fabspeed or Sharkwerks or any other maker for a mod like this.

I watched the swap out process and it's quite easy for shop to do it.

If you have equipment to lift the car up, then can be a DIY type of job, but you need one helper to hold the 2nd cat during unscrew.

My shop also used Wruth Exhaust Sealant to make sure there is no leak.

I agree with the above...not a tough job if you have a lift.
