Each to their own opinion - I won't buy another Cayenne without the PDK transmission.

Depends on how you drive it. For "normal" driving the Tip is probably above average for a slush box. When you want to really get into it though, you almost have to fight it as it's inconsistent about changing gears when you tell it. Just leaving it in automatic + sport isn't too bad though (though it's down shifting could use some work).

The PDK would be a blast when you really want to toss it around. Unfortunately we won't be seeing it for some time yet. I'd say the 958 replacement is a long shot and it's replacement is more likely.

I actually find the tip great for me and in sports plus it shifts fast and gets down to boogey! It seems to shift when I want it to anyway and i like it the way it will downshift and power down. In normal selection of course it will be not as aggressive and sporty but I quite like it still. It is really not as bad as I read some here make it out to be at all. Maybe PDK is better in a sports 911 but don't forget this one is an suv guys so go easy on the tip. It works great! So be happy for what it is!

i remember when everyone hated the 2011 body redesign, and when I had my 2008 GTS at that time I was hesitant. Looking back my 2008 GTS looks dated, and the current 2011 body, looks current. In a year I will probably look at the current when compared to my new refresh and think the same thing again, and then again when the body redesign comes on in a few years from now yet again.
we will see. I am guessing we will all come around, but some might never, and thats okay as well.
All on us on this board are the 1% that are true enthusiasts. We have to remember that as well, very type "A's" here. driver personalities.

I cant wait to see the new refresh, although I might even be placing an order for one, or at least reserving one of the first spots at the dealership I choose before even seeing it. I am sure I will "come around "

I agree with all of that. My exception to that rule was the Mercedes SL like from 2003 to 2006 still looks the best to me.

Just got home after driving the CTT and it astounds me every time on all levels.

Most people still haven't "come around" on the 996. Personally the 996.1 with the Aerokit is the best looking 911 to date, but that's an argument for different threads

Generally though I agree. I still like the 957 exterior look though (a bit more than the 958). It's the interior and triangle wheel that I never liked (though I'm no fan of the mission control console we have either...).

Mission control, that's funny, but pretty accurate.

Personally, I like the 958 better. I remember when they first came out. I thought they looked much better, but it was never on my radar to buy until this year.

Now, that I bought one, I notice them everywhere.

The Mission Control Console is what drew me to the Cayenne. When I first sat in one I was blown away by the ****pit effect.

I liked the X5 exterior but was bored when I sat in one.

A 958 body with a X5 spartan interior (but higher quality materials) would be a good car for me. I'm a less is more type guy

The X5d was my top choice. The driving dynamics were the deciding factor. But god I still smile at this thing every day

I agree the X5 / X6's's are boring! If you are a less is more why in the world would you get a Cayenne, the thing has a button for everything LOL! We looked at the MB and BMW's and nothing compared to the Cayenne, by a very wide margin.

Uhhhh.... Have you never driven one?

I have plenty of gripes with the 958, but that long thin thing under my foot and round thing I hold onto make it all go away

I totally agree on the less is more, thats why i bought a new X5.
loved the clean lines and simplicity,

That lasted for a total of maybe 1 month.
It did not take long before my wife and i started to despise the stupid f*** drive controll.

It makes no sense. everything take forever to find and navigate to and back.

We sold that and went back to the cayenne,

It was truly the most frustrating thing ever.

Yes the cayenne looks like an 747 ****pit but at least everything i need is a button away.

I would love for someone to crack that as i also prefer a cleaner look but not at the price of utterly destroying the user experience.

I was being sarcastic because I figured you had.

It's not just marketing, no other SUV drives like the Cayenne does. It's an amazing experience to be able to throw this 5500lb beast around an AutoX course and wipe the smug expressions off the "real" Porsche owner's faces

I hate all the buttons (and that the rear window doesn't open, the rake of the d-pillar, rear seats that don't fold flat, signal bars and fog lights that require the bumper to be removed to change, and a raft of other things), but there really is nothing that drives like a Porsche
