Yours could have been a fluke or the issue could be more expansive than they currently know (or are admitting).

[QUOTE=gnat;3990067]With a TTS that must mean you are at the gas station every day
surprisingly it's not bad. 19.9 mpg highway and 14 city
It's the G Wagon that you can almost watch the gauge move down. Less than 10 city.

For those interested, here is the official NHTSA link. Search on safety issues by vehicles first (left side of web page), then by model year, make, model and it should call up the info.

Yeah, I've wondered about that. My manual says fuel capacity is 26.2 but mentions a 3 gallon reserve. The way its stated, I can't figure out if the reserve is part of - or in addition to - the 26.2 capacity.

I used to think the reserve value was on top of the stated volume, but I ran my Escape out of gas once (shut off as I rolled up to the pump) and it took within a few tenths of the stated volume. I'm now of the opinion that the reserve value is ~1/8 of a tank (when the light comes on). In the Cayenne, 3 gallons is just about 1/8th.

Maybe I'm old school, but I try not to run below half a tank in any vehicle in the winter. I've always been told the fuller the tank the less chance for condensation in the tank.

I have always wondered the same thing. However, based on how much I've taken when running out, I think it is included in the 26.2*
