Leased Cayenne and scheduled maintenance

Does all scheduled maintenance need to be done at a Porsche dealership when your car is leased? Can I use an independent Porsche shop? I'm due for the 20K service and baffled by the quotes I've received ($800 - $1000 range).

All inputs appreciated.
Thanks.

Check your lease terms, but I would expect the same laws apply to leases that apply to purchases. If so, you can take it anywhere you want, but you'll want to hang onto the documentation of exactly what was done in the event there is any question.

You DO NOT need to service with Porsche. Just make sure you have a print out of the 20,000 mile service, have your independent shop perform everything that's indicated, and save the receipt. And be sure to use Porsche approved parts and fluids just to be on the safe side such as Mobile 1 5W30 oil.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the feedback and will indeed find a reputable indie shop to perform the service and save some $ in the process.

$800 to $1000 sounds pretty cheap compared to where I am from but you don't have to get it serviced at a Porsche dealership.

It will be significantly lower if you provide your own parts and have the dealer to do the work. You can get OEM parts from dealer who provides online order with no sales tax (check out the dealers in Vegas). I needed change my brakes and oil and the local dealer quoted me $1500 (rear brakes only). Ordered the parts from a porsche dealer online and the local dealer only charged me labor. $850+ including parts and labor. Make sure you use OEM parts. Compatible parts are not the same !!!

10K service is around $285-$350 at the Porsche dealership. Again, if you find a dealer who will just do the work for you while you supply the parts, it is much cheaper. You can get the oil from Autozone for $5.50 a qt and the dealer is going to charge you $10-12 per qt.

Yes, I don't understand why Porsche charges approx. 10 times more than other car manufacturers. I guess because it is a Porsche.

I just pay full rate because I don't have the time to figure out which parts I need for each service milestone.

At least here in California they cannot regulate this. You can take it to any independent shop, but keep good records of all service not done at a Porsche dealer. I prefer using Porsche because they have everything on file and when it comes time to sell my car, all docs are with them and they can verify proper service.
