Question w/ highbeams...
Question w/ highbeams...
Has anyone swapped the halogens for Xenon or LED's for the inside highbeams? Seems silly that the car comes with LED/Xenon for everything else. Would love to know what others have done, if anything... Thanks!
our headlight with HID is already bi-xenon (low and high) those halogens bulbs are for flashing purpose
it is not recommended to upgrade those to HID, LED might work but the question is
why bother?

Weird -- I recently put the highbeams on, got out of the car and mine were definitely halogen. Low beams use the outside lamps, which are the 4300K D1S HID bulbs. I'll double check again, but I'm pretty sure they were halogen for the highs. I also have the PLDS Plus package, which would make you think halogens would not be included. Strange...
Yep, just confirmed them again. The high beams are not the xenons. The outer lamps are the Xenons for the main headlights. The inner lights are the high beams, which are halogen. The new set I ordered is the same wattage (55W), and with the slim ballasts, it should work perfectly. The fogs (H11) will also be the same. Did 6000K across all 3. On my X5, the fogs were the cornering lights, so running HID's was an issue because of the constant on and off for every turn, but I don't believe the same goes for the Cayenne, so I should be ok. This would be the only issue.
Porsche Dynamic Lighting System (PDLS)
Static cornering light
The static cornering light is activated in darkness and when the light switch is set to position or . The function is available at speeds of up to 80 mph (130 km/h) and switches on when the steering wheel is turned.
The static cornering light is not switched on when high beam is activated.
Dynamic cornering light
At speeds greater than 5 mph (8 km/h), the low beam or high beam headlight is swivelled in the direction of the curve to illuminate the road more clearly, depending on the speed of the vehicle and the extent to which the steering wheel is turned.
In the event of a fault in the dynamic cornering light, the PDLS warning light in the instrument panel starts flashing and a warning message appears on the multi-purpose display of the instrument panel.

As you approach a crossing, Intersection Assistant activates the left and right indicators, making the beam of light broader and shorter. This improves illumination of the area directly surrounding the vehicle, making the driver more aware of what’s going on around him.
Just a hunch but I think the outer high beam is within the same bulb. The interior is halogen YES, but you should notice the xenon outers should also brighten up at the same time. I think that's the case with my 997TT, however I am 100% positive my 07 S550 is set up this way.
