I was never a fan of the car restarting more than 1X per ride, as there is stress on the starter, battery, and who knows what else; but, nonetheless Ihave wanted to use it, but most of the times there are conditions that supress it, like battery voltage, etc. The feature really is stupid if it doesn't even work when you DO want it to.

 

So will the dealer do the reprogramming as a courtesy or does the owner have to pay for this?

 

Can't be reprogrammed by dealer or anybody else as far as I know.

 

Update to this, a module is available that remembers your last choice on the auto start and sport buttons. Check out T-designs9.com, they have your solution. I just got mine today and installed it in my 2017 Cayenne.
