Auto Start-Stop Function
Auto Start-Stop Function
Recently purchased 2015 Cayenne S. I am aware the you have to manually depress the S/S button each time you start up the car. Sometimes when the start-stop button is depressed and the light is on, the vehicle stops dead going within 5 mph or less. I then have to place my foot on brake and then give it gas to go. Doesn't make much sense when you are driving and not prepared to stop.
Anyone else having this problem? Depressing the function button when I start the car should keep vehicle on and operating all of the time, not stopping once in a while. This is an accident waiting to happen!
On my older 2011 Cayenne S, depressing the button once kept the Cayenne S going anytime thereafter without having to depress the button. Even when you restart the car.
I was wondering if this is a software problem, electrical problem, switch problem or just a mistake that Porsche engineers need to figure out and fix.
Any comments?

If it's shutting the motor off while you are still moving that's pretty serious regardless if S/S is enabled or not. I'd get it into the dealer before it either damages itself or leads to an accident.
We have a 2015 cayenne S and it does this as well.
My wife & I hate it and thinks it is also dangerous. I've told her to always turn S/S off when starting the car until we have the time to take it in to see if it can be adjusted it fixed.
Let us know what dealer says when you have it looked at.

Porsche updated their electronics for 15/16 vehicle builds to not allow you to permanently turn off the Auto Start-Stop.
I asked my service technician if there was a way he could internally program it and he said there was no way they have the ability to do that.
Unfortunately, nothing can be done at this time.
