We have a new (to us) 2012 Cayenne S and the tailgate does something strange. When opening it (either with the key fob or with the tailgate handle), it will often open part-way, beep, and stop. If you hit the button or handle again, it opens a little further, beeps, and stops again. Same on closing: hit the close button on the tailgate, it will close maybe a lot, maybe only a tiny bit, beep, and stop.

On some occasions, though, it opens and closes normally. One press of the button and up or down it goes all the way open or all the way closed and locked.

Anyone else experience that and, if so, what did you do?

 

My 2011 S started doing that, and the dealer replaced one of the hatch struts/motors under warranty.
