Loosing keyless entry and radio reception when Dash cam installed in the trunk
SubscribeI have this weird thing happening to my car. When I tried to attache a dash cam to the rear window and plug it into the outlet in the trunk, my keyless entry/start (or whatever they porsche calls it) doesnt recognize my key and cant start the car, it cant unlock door and it cant lock door. On top of that - my radio reception starts getting funky. Once I disconnect it from the outlet - all goes back to normal. I even tried a different dash cam - still the same. When I hook up my phone charger to the same outlet - no problem. Why is dash cam giving me all these issues. Front dash cam - no problem when hooked up to the front outlet. WEIRD. Anybody take on it?
I don't have keyless entry but I had similar situation after I installed rear view dashcam on trunk.
When I installed rear view dashcam, My remote of key didn't work and I talked to dealer and they assumed dashcam problem.
I removed dash cam and installed wiring shielding, its solved.
The problem is, Dash cam power (12V) seems make Electro magnetic field like noise, then that noise can disturb communication of cars or RF.
So, It seems like you connected your dashcam to dorm light cuz you mentioned you can't start the car. I highly recommend connect power to just cigarette(12V) instead of dorm light. and also use great wiring shield then you can solve the problem.
Oh and you don't need to shield whole part of dashcam power, only need near trunk. I think I explained several month ago for about this problem in this forum

I found it for you. one of pics shows shielding location.

Im thinking maybe changing the power supply wire would fix. Maybe using direct wire kit called Power Magic Pro
Or maybe running the power supply wire to a different socket. I got to try it all.
Its weird that Porsche is so sensitive. On a toyota or a bmw - it was never a problem.
BTW - should tint come off when taking the sticky cup off after being on the window for a week? Do I have a bad tint or what. I now have a round circle of tint that un-glued itself. Is that normal on most tints? I didnt pull hard on it or anything.

Well, I got a new shielded cable but it didnt help. I still have to run the cable to the front to see results. I guess all the computers in the trunk interfere with the cable.
