I have the 650 in my car and found it's pretty buggy. The wifi is hit and miss. When I turn off wifi, it will randomly turn on. I also got the battery saver module. After 1.5 weeks, the battery was dead on the car since it never turned the system off after detecting low voltage.

I have had several blackvue on my p cars with the magicpro w/o issues but on my 2015 CTT the battery has died numerous times. Not sure if it's the setting on the magic pro or if it's due to the lack of driving but wanted to see what the OP has his magic pro set to?

I set my magic pro to the lower of the two voltage settings and 6 hours. BTW, the first magic pro I received had a flaky switch. It was replaced by dashcamstore and the new one is solid. I only let it run while parked when I'm not at home or office so not tested enough to be sure I don't have problems. The install of the magic pro inside the glove box is very convenient and out of sight. The doublestick didn't work on the flock inside the glove box so I used the two screws that came with the unit and that works fine.

Great guide.

Will be running mine this weekend.

[edit]
Installed mine on Sunday. Everything is hooked up properly but the power magic pro does not power on. Camera works fine. In the meantime, the camera is hardwired to the switched fuse #18 on the passenger side.

I noticed there is a quick flicker of the green status light whenever I unplug and plug in the constant fuse. So something internally is wrong with the power magic pro.

I'm waiting for my supplier to get back to me on the PMP. From some of amazon reviews, this thing has a high failure rate.

I sent the Power Magic Pro back to my supplier for warranty. I finally wired up the rear cam today. My installation was very similar to the guide except for one thing. I noticed in your guide, the wire went between the weather liner. I was worried about any potential for leaks so I went through a hole between the headliner and the metal chassis.

I used a fish tape to go through the wire rubber grommet then through the hole. I then attached the camera wire to the fish tape and pulled it back through the wire harness grommet. This also allowed me to hide all the extra wire inside the headliner.

The hole between the headliner and the metal chassis.

Hid all the extra wire inside.

Yes you have to go thru a hole in the metal above the headliner to get to the rubber wire conduit (long grommet). I chose to hide excess wire inside long rear hatch trim but plenty of room above headliner too. I had to replace the PCP due to flaky switch and replacement is good. Only problem now is Android phone so doesn't work with wifi app but iPhone works well. I may upgrade to the web app as that seems to be the future. Glad you got it done!

Updates on Power Magic Pro battery issues? Also, I'm reading mixed reviews on this camera. Thoughts on image quality?

Camera itself is good. No complaints regarding quality. Still have issues with my battery dying though...

Those that have the power magic. Does the green light turn off when you push the power on/off button. I've noticed mine is always green...

Yes, the green light should turn off when you turn the power button off. Assuming you are asking about doing so with the power off to the ignition/accessories (ie your car is parked). If you have the ignition/acc on, the green light stays on.

The green light should basically represent when your unit is on. This would be the case ALWAYS when you are driving (vehicle power is on). It would only be green with the vehicle off, if it is in battery mode (for lack of better term).

Note that if you have it hooked up to an accessory fuse that is delayed off (like a 12v outlet), those can take up to 30 min to shut off when you turn you car off.

To test it, turn off the switch on the power magic, turn off your car, if the light stays on, come back in an hour to see if the light is off. If not, you may have a defective power magic or have it wired wrong.

so basically my PM green light is always on (car off or on doesn't affect the PM). I've pushed the power button on the PM and noticed the light still stays on either way and that's what gets me worried. figured it is a power button and should turn off if pushed...

i've wired the red wire to a fuse that turns on/off when the car turns on/off. yellow to a fuse that is always on. and the other wire is grounded.

my car will die after one night of parking and leaving the camera plugged in. i've pretty much unplugged the camera every night when the car is parked and it does not have any start up issues.

time for a new PM?

Yep. Time for a replacement. Plus it should be cutting off when your battery gets low regardless. I had my first power magic replaced also. New one is working great.

I've had the same cam(front and back) installed for a few months, recently it stopped working. turned out it's the fuse, the cigarette lighters stopped working too. I plugged it to the lower cigarette hole below the glove box.

Had anyone blown their fuses?? maybe it's my phone charger drawing too much amp.

I haven't touched anything since I installed them, and they were working perfectly.

Installed the new pm yesterday and started up fine this am when I went to work. After work the battery died again... Are my settings wrong? Or what else can it be? Anyone have this hooked up to a 958.2 cayenne?

Just some background regarding green power light. It's always on when the car is one and running no matter if you push the on/off switch. When car is off light stays on but if I push the power button it turns off the power accordingly.

If you are toggling the on off switch on the PM with the car off and the light stays on something is not wired right. When i flip my on/off toggle on/off the green light reacts according (instantly).

Can you post a pic of the wiring in your fuse box.

Also if you have a volt tester, make sure your RED wire going to the PM has NO power with the car off. If it still has power you need to find an ACC fuse that switches off with the key.
