Inputs on lowering the Cayenne with just springs such as H&R?
SubscribeI never lowered my Cayenne because I have air suspension, but I did lower my 2009 VW Touareg TDI with H&R springs. The Touareg is built on the same platform as Cayenne, about the same weight. The ride with the H&R spring was great on the highway and rode like it was on rails. The ride on rough roads was jarring and going over railroad tracks would nearly knock the fillings out of your teeth.
If you live in an area with rough roads, the ride can be real harsh. Having said that, other people who lowered Touareg’s with the same springs loved the ride. I sold those springs and put coilovers on and could not have been happier. The ride was similar to riding on air suspension in the normal ride setting.

Coil overs
got an 04 cayenne s and I feel stock ride is too harsh and would like something a bit more cushy while lowering it to eliminate some wheel well gap.
Your .02 would be appreciated. Thanks!

hi hammerdog - wondering what brand/model of coil overs you used on your toureg and what setting you ended up with to describe the ride as riding on air suspension?Originally Posted by hammerdog

I installed BC Racing coilovers and I tried served different settings and settled on 9 in the front and 11 in the rear. (1 being the hardest stiffest setting) That setting felt like my Cayenne with air suspension in normal height at comfort setting.
You can always adjust the settings if you want stiffer ride, but it is a pain to adjust because you have to remove the coilovers when you make adjustments.
I dropped my touareg 2.50 inches and was still able to get it within the alignment specifications.
You can drop it lower, but you might not be able to get the alignment within cayenne specifications which can cause your tires to burn down or wear uneven.
