I have a 2014 Cayenne and the other day Porsche gave me a 2016 Cayenne loaner. I instantly noticed that the rear view camera image is way better, almost like HD. I've always thought my Cayenne's rear camera image was low quality...as a matter of fact, my 2008 Escalade has a better quality/sharper image.

Does anyone know of a cost-effective and easy way to upgrade my camera to the 2016's camera?

noticed the same thing too... my dad's old 1999 lexus LS has better camera than my 2014

Strange - since my '11 has a much better camera then SWMBO's Lexus RX-350. Clearer, brighter and has the guide lines (which REALLY REALLY work.. to my surprise.)

BTW - have you gone into settings and set the brightness/contrast on your backup display? There are options for that..

 

My Audi also doesn't have a very clear camera... I think it's the same one thats in the Cayennes.

 

Check point - friend got a brandy-new Diesel X5 BMW. His camera is amazingly clear. Much clearer then the P!G.. but it does have a confusing bunch of lines in it (besides the yellow ones indicating where the vehicle will reverse to vs the steering wheel position, it has two red lines that seem to cross in the center. Dunno what those are for..)

 

Oh - to answer the original question - probably not. It's probably more then just a better camera, it probably also has a better display in the PCM.
