Why people’s keep flashing me?

Not sure is this a common thing or am I the only one here with this problem, I owned a 2016 cayenne with xenon PDLS. Every time I drive on a motorway a lot of peoples flashing me when I passing them? I did a little experiment last night on the way home, I drove behind my friend’s car on the motorway. He said it seem like my car keep flashing at him even thought I didn’t, also when we on a windy country road it look like my headlights keep going on and off?

On a separate note I’m thinking to upgrade the xenon headlights to full leds, do you think it worth the upgrade? Do anybody have a video or pictures how the full led lights function, I been searching on the net and YouTube but with no joy.

Many thanks

Your PDLS system might be malfunctioning. Take it to the dealer.

A pair of LED headlights will cost $4,800 US and will probably need programming by the dealer.

your lights maybe pivoting like you would while turning but you are travelling in a straight line. Bring to your dealer for a fix before a major issue arises.

Is your Cayenne a UK/Ireland model, or a rest-of-world model?

Since you drive on the left in Ireland (and the UK), a rest-of-world model will have the wrong headlight pattern for your roads, and will blind oncoming traffic, which is a good reason for them to flash you. They're trying to tell you something, in this case, I think they're trying to tell you your headlights are blinding them.

If it's a UK/Ireland model - does it have the correct headlights in it?

My '17 has the LED PDLS+ lights, so I can't speak to how the xenons work. But in mine there's a leveler that adjusts the lights. I notice it doing it's thing when I first start it at night, in the driveway. I can see the lights come on at a higher level and then lower. My wife's Mini Cooper does this also. I'd wonder if you'd see the same thing on start, especially if the vehicle is parked on a uphill grade (not just on flat ground). See if it does that, and does it evenly on both sides. If not, or if it's uneven, then it would seem like a good idea to have the dealer check it out.

I can get a pair used European version full led headlight with all the module on it about €3,000, but I am not sure can the dealer program it to work on right hand drive car. I need to investigate further before I make the purchase.

The cornering light only comes on when I travel on low speed and turning. I don’t think they are on when I travel on a straight line. I suspect it probably because PDLS expand the light further when go over 130km on a straight line and blinding people in front of me.

Yes my cayenne is irish model.

No one flash at me on the incoming traffic yet. It is the people in front of me on a motorway, they flash me when I passing them on the fast lane.

Given my limited time as a tourist driving a rental car in Ireland, I'm impressed you found roads sufficient for going over 80mph! Both in condition and length! Could they be flashing you because of driving like madman, not just the lights? I confess to likely falling into that category...

I wonder if it'd make a difference if you disabled the dynamic high beam assistance?

I'll add this, I have from time to time found people flashing lights at me, on-coming, even when the lights are dipped (not high beams). I think the light pattern and edges are sharper/brighter than what folks expect and they think I've got the high beams lit. And, no, it's not the typical "there's police ahead" kind of courtesy flashing. I usually blip the high beams on, if only to let them know.. no, I'm not running with the brights on.

Yes my xenon headlights does the same thing as well when it first turn on. It seem both headlights does it evenly to me, but will definitely get the dealer look into it on my next visit as I am two hours drive to the nearest dealer.

LOL this car easily do over 80mph on irish motorway, most of the journey I make is on a motorway and the limited is 120km.

My car doesn’t have PDLS Plus so their is no high beam assist.
