Reduced Engine Power warning

Hey guys,

I had a weird experience this afternoon with my 2011 Cayenne S. This red engine 'reduced power warning' came on about a block from my driveway. I had started up the car w/ the air conditioning on for the first time that day around 6pm. It didn't last very long maybe a few seconds then it was gone. I think it might of happened 2 or 3 other times about a month ago but it goes away as quickly as it turns on. Any ideas? Is it early signs of the high pressure fuel pump going bad? Thanks!

TJ -

Could that be caused by something that your dealer did in the AH08 Cam Adjuster Bolts recall, when they had to partially tear down the motor?

You'd think that the tech would've checked the fan & it's control system.

Worth a thought anyway.

Cheers from your PGH Buddy!

The only other reference I found was to an older thread here where folks had it but got no explanation.

It so happens you also posted in that thread to ask about which OBD tool to get!

Hey Tom! Good to hear from you. Ya I can't find anything except that thread as well. If it has something to do with the air conditioning I guess I have to bring it back in and have the dealership take a look. I hope all is well with you! Enjoy your summer!

This has happened many times ith my 11 CS. First happened @43K miles - I'm at 102K now. The dealer couldn't find an issue but suspected and replaced high pressure fuel pump @43K. Has happened a few times recently but I haven't investigated any further. I cant tell any difference in how it drives when the alert goes off.

The fan control overcurrent warning can be ignored. It seems all of them get this. I think it happens on occasion when all the flaps in the HVAC are closed and the fan starts up - usually on startup. I haven't seen the sun sensor one - but I'd try clearing it and see if it comes back.
