Ah man.. you guys are too good! I would have thought only a handful of guys would have recognized what this is...
It is a Henn coupler (adapter). Henn as in "HENN GmbH & Co KG", an Austrian company that makes quick disconnect couplers for coolant and boost applications. Porsche uses their couplings for many connection points across the Porsche lineup:
Here is the OEM Henn coupling that goes from the turbocharger outlets and into the intercooler lower boost hose:
The problem with the factory lower boost hose (besides the expanding rubber hose itself) is that their are several step downs inside the factory metal adapter. This is so it can properly crimp with the rubber hose, however, it unneccessarily restricts flow.
Here is a close up of the internal step downs:
The smallest diameter is step is approx 31mm:
However, by using a custom Hanns coupling adapter made of billet aluminum, we do not need this step downs and can increase the internal diameter quite a bit to approx 41mm:
That is about a 30% increase in diameter and flow for both turbos! Just means more power
