I have just hit 7k miles. Should I change my oil or what? On my 3 series BMW I was told to change every 7-8k. I'm thinking the first oil change is crucial.

in my manual it says oil intervals are 11k, and the first one i believe is either 17.5k or 22k.

I'd check that against your user manual. something in my head really alarms about how long the first interval was and how wow'd i was by that. BMW is very different. the cayenne s engine alone runs $32k to replace so you want to make sure you get it right. entirely different class of vehicle expense wise with the porsches.

I personally run royal purple 0w-40 at 11k intervals per the manual.
