Stereo or amp problem - need help

I started the Cayenne up at lunch today and the stereo went crazy on me, max volume static coming from driver's side door speakers only at anything other than volume level 0 or Mute. I tried every FM station, band and AM radio and it's the same for everything, the only thing I haven't tried is playing a CD. I turned the vehicle off, let it sit for a few minutes and started it again with no changes in the problem.

I have the CDR-23 radio with Bose amp/speakers; I do have a Sirius/XM unit with FM modulator installed. Everything worked fine this morning on my way to work and I have not seen any problems in the past. The Cayenne is a 2008 with 38600 miles on it, outside of the satellite radio unit, everything else is stock.

Has anyone seen this before, is it the amp or the radio? I've been considering replacing the CDR-23 for awhile but this may push me over the edge; however I don't want to replace the head unit when the problem is the amp. Any help is much appreciated, thanks!

Sounds like an amp problem to me. Completely unplug the amp for a while and plug it back in. This will reset it, and sometimes will (temporarily) restore proper audio.

Naturally after sitting for a few hours I started it up and everything is completely normal. I just keep my fingers crossed every time I start it up that the sound will work. I'm still under the CPO warranty so hopefully if it is the amp it will be covered.
