I ran a Carfax report. 2 owners. The first owner had it for 7 years, no major problems, kept regular maintenance appts. Averaged 8K per year. Second owner had it for less than a year (less than 1500 miles before crashing).

Called the services centers (both owners used the same ones) and they disclosed there were no major issues outside of oil changes and routine maintenance.

Just purchased a 2005 Cayenne S with similar mileage and am loving it! Note that some of the electronic upgrades may cost a bit more because of changes in PCM. You should confirm that it has a PCM 2 so that you can add some of the more modern amenities (bluetooth, iPod, etc.)

Your best bet is to use google images or Ebay and search Porsche PCM 1 or 2. If it has a cassette you definitely have a PCM 1. If it is has a CD in the head unit and came with Navigation then check under the passenger seat (you will see a piece of plastic that pops off near the footwell). If you have a CD in the passenger seat storage area then it is a PCM 2, if it is a DVD navigation then you have a PCM 2.1. I paid $19.7k but it had a lot of factory upgrades, based on the condition of your Cayenne II would say you are getting a fair price.

I bought my 04 CS last September with 69k miles and I currently have 94k miles on it. I have to say it has been awesome and handled the Colorado winter with barley a wheel spin. If you can, try to find out if the plastic cooling pipes have been replaced with the aluminum ones. The price sounds about right.

It sounds like a good offer but it would not hurt to check other places to see how much they are selling the same model for.

Well still going to buy it...however, found out that it has the plastic tubes that need to be replaced. Was it a recall?

Not a recall, it will need to be done out of pocket.

Crap...now wondering if I should buy. What are the ramifications of this long term? What other problems would this cause? Shop will charge $1500 to repair...is that a good deal?

There are no real ramifications if it's done preemptively. I think $1,500 is toward the high end. Some shops will do it in the $1,000-$1,300 range.

Thats the thing, I am not sure if it's preemptive. Like I mentioned earlier according to carfax it's been well maintained. It's been in accident, but my brother is the dealer and has made all necessary repairs (this will be the last one).

I heard someone say that it could impact the starter. Another $1000 repair.
