Move selector to level P

Hi,
Does anyone get the same message when parking the car for 04 Cayenne S. It is coming with move selector to level P and the key won't release. When I move to the left again like turning off the ignition is when it is making the click noise and releases the key. This happens every now and then. Also could that be the answer for the psm failure workshop when the car is stopped on D it shuts off. Then when I restart the psm failure workshop light comes on and the engine works strange. After I restart the engine everything back to normal. Anyone had similar issue and what it would cost to repair? I called couple of dealerships and am getting different responses, not sure if both are connected with each other. Airflow sensor, crankshaft sensor, ignition switch. The tires are new, the alignment is ok.

Obviously that is not normal behavior. I have heard of a few ignition switches needing to be replaced.

check for water under flooring, both sides - driver and passenger.

My CTT has been displaying this message. It was corrected yesterday ... The shift lever cable needed adjustment... The cable that connects to the shifter connects via a elongated slot ...

To adjust, the shifter must be removed and the allen head screw that attaches the cable must be loosened, selector in park , then the cable pulled so that the the screw can be tightened with the cable pulled all the way forward in the slot..... Hard to describe... If it is off even 1/8' the selector doesn't know what gear it is in... In my case I had what appeared to be another detent for drive..

If the adjusment is far enough out of whack, you may have to put vehicle in neutral, (if you can find it), just to start the car. Mine was waaaay off! To the point of putting vehicle in Park wasn't park, it was actually in reverse, and the car would roll back if I left ignition on!

Taking the shifter out is no big job, I can remove/reinstall it in 40 minutes
agter doing it the 1st time... Adjusting the cable is strait forward as long as you understand how it works...

Took me a long time to figure this out and searched MANY threads and forums without luck....

If I can help please let me know...

Pup
