Adding backup camera to 2013 Cayenne GTS
Adding backup camera to 2013 Cayenne GTS
I am embarrassed to admit that I miss a backup camera in my 2013 Cayenne GTS. It looks like the PCM 3.1 is ready for it as the screen goes blank when shifting to reverse. I look for answers to:
- How to add backup camera.
- Whether there is wiring in the car for a backup camera even though the option was not installed.
- If the camera from the 858.2 is a better choice and can will work with PCM 3.1.
- If I should consider another brand backup camera. I do have GTA car kit installed for android integration so this gives options.
TIA,
Ola

Thank you both for replying to this old thread.
The wireless looks like a good solution. I would love to find one that bluetooth connects to my phone and is powered from the backup (or brake) lights. Any leads?
I bought a camera identical or similar to the handle replacing camera in the link above, but have not yet installed it. Two reasons:
- With the GTA Car Kit, which gives CarPlay capability, it does not work when I put the car in reverse. The work around is to put the car in park when I want to see the picture, but it is not ideal.
- Pulling the wire from the rear looks like a pain. Does anyone have experience running the back up camera wire, or am I so lucky that and the wire is already run from the trunk to the dash even though the car was sold without backup camera?
TIA,
Ola

I still have a handle replacing camera sitting in my garage waiting to be installed. Per above I have tested it: "With the GTA Car Kit, which gives CarPlay capability, it does not work when I put the car in reverse. The work around is to put the car in park when I want to see the picture, but it is not ideal."
Running the wire look like a PITA. Does anyone have advice on how to run the wire from the trunk lid to the instrument panel on a 2013 Cayenne?
If too complicated I may just buy a EWAY WiFi Magnetic Hitch Wireless Backup camera for hitch hookup.

Ola
