Whenever I insert the key into the key hole, there is a "chirk" noise.
1/2 year ago, there was no noise and the car was completely immobilized: the dash computer has no information, steering wheel locked, gears locked.
Towed to Porsche and had the 4 wires underneath the driver's carpet repaired.
everything good until last week.
insert the key into the key hole, there was No "chirk" noise.
the car was completely immobilized, exactly like 1/2 year ago.
towed to Porsche, the scanner cannot communicate with any modules.
disconnected the battery, reconnected the battery, and the car is mobilized and started again.
scan did not show anything wrong and all systems reset as required.
porsche said if it happens again, and if connecting/disconnecting battery does not work next time, then hours and hours of investigation may be required.
can someone kindly advise me what I should do please.
As far as your as your issue with your Porsche, I do not work on Porsches, at least not since the 80's, BUT, I have worked on many VAG vehicles, and recently rebuilt my Bentley GT from a bare shell, and in doing so I have worked on the KESSY module, steering lock, ignition switch, instrument cluster, twin ecu's, along with programming my new keyfobs with the SKC (secret key code), your issue may be in the KESSY module itself, the keyfob, the ignition switch, or maybe even in the engine ecu depending on if Porsche has programming in the engine ecu for the engine immobilizer, my A8L W12 and my GT both have the KESSY module immobilizer, you can stick a flat head screwdriver into the tip of the ignition switch and turn it to the right as to power up and start, but the KESSY sees that there is no matching key fob read by the coil in the ignition switch, therefore only an "Immobilizer Active" message will appear on the dash screen, that would lead one to a keyfob issue, but, if you get no message or action at all, then I would look at the ignition switch itself, if the issue was with the engine ecu and a working KESSY, meaning, you have a good keyfob and a good ignition switch, along with a working KESSY, the dash would power up, the steering would unlock, and the engine would start, but then stall just after 2 seconds, because the talking between the KESSY and the engine ecu failed the immobilizer challenge, so that would be an ecu fault, been there done that, So.
When you say that the dash has no information, do you mean that it does not power up at all, as in, no message of any kind in the driver information screen, so nothing in the vehicle powers up when you insert and turn the key-blade ?
I take it that since your vehicle is a 2008, it has keyless entry and push button start, if so, does the door unlock when you pull the outside door handle to enter the vehicle ?
If the fact is that nothing happens at all when you insert the key in the ignition, no message of any kind, no lights at all, I would be looking at the ignition switch for faults, the other issue is a faulty KESSY, some have replaced failed mosfets inside the KESSY, others with the Bentley and Audi's have had issues of the KESSY module being water damaged as the KESSY resides under the carpet on the drivers side floorboard in the GT, Spur, and Audi A8L, BUT, from what I see online, the Cayenne has the KESSY behind the dash to the left of the HVAC suitcase, so, have you had any water leakage from the windshield, sunroof, cowl drains, or any coolant leakage from the heater core inside the HVAC suitcase ?
When you said that no modules were reachable, did you mean all modules, or just the modules pertaining to the IMMO/KESSY, which in Ross-Tech VCDS terms would be address 05 and or 25, but I know RT VCDS isn't used on Porsche without an adapter iirc.
Did the shop tell you exactly what the 4 wires they repaired were for ?
My car has keyless entry and uses a fob key to start the car (no push button).
The key's battery is good.
The car's battery is good.
The door locks and unlocks.
When I said the car got completely locked up, I meant the steering wheel locks up and the gear shift locks up, and no information on the dash screen i.e. no menu, nothing.
This youtube video explained the relationship between the "lock-up" and the 4 wires underneath the driver's carpet:-
The first time the "locked up" happened, Porsche repaired the 4 wires.
The second time the "locked up" happen, Porsche said "the scanner cannot communicate with ANY modules".
But after disconnect and reconnect the battery, the car starts up just fine: this means the battery disconnect/reconnect REBOOTS "something" that can lock up the car.
Can you "electrically" reboot the kessy ?
My problem is: I do not know what is the next step or next question to ask.
