There seems to be a renewed uproar surrounding this, but I've yet to hear or see anything proving it to be fact.

Saw one FINALLY!!! On 294 N. directly under the iPass north of O'Hare. Was a white GMC van with a huge sign on top displaying your speed. My V1 was going crazy from half a mile away. On the side it had writing, but all I could read was "speed kills" or something like that. This was in a construction zone if you don't drive around there.

I passed through one going a little faster since there was no traffic, but didn't see any cameras or get anything in the mail.

Here is a pic! Just passed one on 294 N just before the work zone ends north of Dempster. Couldn't tell if there were cameras in side. Definitely set off my V1 since it displays your speed on top.

They're out there fully equipped with cameras and soon many drivers will receive citations in the mail. FYI, those things don't need to be manned to operate, just park it and let it make the state money.

Isn't parking a full-sized cargo van on the shoulder (i.e. the run-off lane) of a major highway, for extended periods of time some kind of safety issue?

No problem. My V1 went full blast .5 miles away, so I took my iPhone out and got lucky. Pretty good quality.

The right lane was closed.

Question, those IPASS lanes don't report speed do they? It always set my detector off but yet I havent gotten anything, everyone flies thru those. And, I believe there is a van or vans located on the nasty construction zone on N-294 just before the Wisconsin/Illinois.

No, if they did none of us would have them... and I would have most likely been incarcerated by now.
