Bill, no problem, I just cannot believe how bad the gas is up here to go along with the altitude. It felt like someone added a 500lbs to my car.

I also heard that the regular stuff has some sort of cleaner added to it during the winter months, is this true?

 

Most pump gas has detergent(s) in them...I don't think anything additional is added for winter months....there is talk of additional ethanol being added in the future....

Bill, I heard about the winter "only" fuel thing from Kevin. I know most pump gas has detergent. Thisi sn't detergent, it is a clean air additive, but I cannot remember what.

 

Well it 'used' to be that some of the stations (it may have only been texaco or someone, can't remember now) went with the national requirement that Ethanol was only 'required' during the winter months so they had non-ethanol gas Spring through October....that has now passed and they use the additive year round.

Add another one in Hygiene, CO on 17th and 75th. 93 Octane at the pump.

 

Cheif Petroleum only sells LEADED :-(

Since I have a hard time finding any fuel above 91, is it recommended to drop an octane booster into my 911?

 

If you are on a stock ecu file 91 will be plenty for day to day driving and you can add better fuel when you will be running the car hard to keep the ecu from pulling timing when things get hot. As for additives. Stay away. Just go to Dugans and add a few gallons of their 105 unleaded. That is enough. That will raise your average to 93, which should be enough. That is what I do. I have a 91 octane ECU file, but I will add a few gallons of 100 or 105 just for good measure, since there is a good chance that 91 is not actually 91 but less than that.

you can use xylene or toluene as an additive, but it is better to mix them into a gas can with reg gasoline then pour it into the tank. The stuff is corrosive and you do not want to spill it on your paint.

 

Does Duggan's have self-serve pumps for 100/105? or do you have to fill containers? Ideally I'd like to find a place where I can just pull up and put 3-4 gallons right in the tank.

 

yup, you can do that at Duggans. They have 100 and 105 at the pump. They also have 110 leaded at pump as well, but if you run cats, not recommended.

Thanks guys. Where is Duggans? That is my concern with 91 octane (I've been putting in Shell's 91) and who knows if you are really getting 91. However, are you really getting 100/105 out of Duggan's pump?
