PC question - speed 3, how much hand pressure?

What's the proper way of using pc when at speed 3? I notice if I put full pressure on it (press on top to make it stay down) at speed 3, it either spins counter-clockwise or doesn't spin at all. If I let go a bit, it'll spin clockwise... So how much pressure am I supposed to put on it?

At speed 6, no matter how much pressure I put on PC, it spins clockwise...so I guess I'm doing it right?

Thanks.

John

I would typically lay down the product on 3 unless its a liquid wax.

start applying the product at 3 and move up to 5 and work the polish in.

Don't put that' much pressure on the machine that it will bog it down.

apply at speed three, Don't worry about it spinning. Then bump it up to 5-6. and polish it out till the polish is nearly clear or clear.

Starting at 2-3 to work the product in and I only go as high as 5. I've tried doing 6 afew times and the heat generated melted my backing plate and the the center of the pad.

Thanks for all the replies! Yeah, I started at 3 but just wasn't sure if I was doing it right because I noticed sometimes it spins clockwise and sometimes counter-clockwise... I guess my question was 'what is the right way when at speed 3'?.

Thanks.

Yes, pads don't last long at sp6!

Moe, there is a ventilated PC backing plate, it cuts down on 50% of the heat!

Another tip, if you are ever over sp3, do not lift the pad off the surface, you can throw the pad off the PC.

I usually use the pc to finish up after a rotary. In that aspect, I usually keep at 4. If the pads fling off it's because the backing plate needs to be replaced or the pad's "loop" is no longer catching on the "hook" part of the backing plate.
