Cordless drill and wheel brush
Cordless drill and wheel brush
I was looking at a website which had a wheel brush which would plug ingo your cordless drill. I thought it was pretty cool.
Sadly my browser crashed and i lost the site. I did a few searches and found this:
http://www.microfiber-products-onlin...rwhcltoby.html
but this is NOT the brush i saw. the one advertised was much longer. i also found this:

this is close, but the one i saw was longer, allowing you to get behind the spokes of the wheel.
what do you all think about these brushes that you can pop on a cordless drill. should i get one? washing wheels is the part i hate the most about car care and sounds too easy to be true.

how do you like it bob? it doesn't seem solid enough -- does it just get the small amount of break dust or does it really do a good job cleaning the wheels?
I use the ace power stick on my X5 wheels as well. With the silver finish it works great, no scratching and I can clean all the way inside of the wheel. Takes about as long to clean the inside any outside of the wheel as it would to just clean the outside by hand. Unfortunately it does not work as well on the textured finish of my HRE's. Definately was worth the money, especially if you have mesh wheels.
This product works great,it is flexable which allows you to work all parts of the drop center barrel... however modular wheels (hre) with a steep drop center are a little harder to clean. The key is using a finish specific wheel cleaner to emulsify the built up brake dust and crud that accumulates, there is nothing that beats dis-mounting the wheel but for most applications this is not feasable.
For best wheel cleaning here is the list of products and equipment needed (imho)
.Pressure washer 1200-1400 psi
.Acepower stick(various sizes)-cordless drill
.Foam knee pad
.Finish specific wheel cleaner(IMPORTANT!! some wheels have clearcoted and raw polish combo's such as Fikse profil series, so no acid based cleaners)
.Bucket with soap and wash mitts
.Wheel cleaners I use:P&S Brake Buster(non-butyl based),Chemical Guys Grim Reaper(strong) non-acid based,P&S Special Mag (acid based)
.Wheel well cleaner P&S enviro clean full strength,or Grim reaper
.Wheel well dressing Chemical Guys Bare Bones
.Small brushes to clean out lug holes and fasteners for modular wheels

The ACE Powerstick is awesome. I have been using one for several months on my details and I love it. Makes cleaning the inside of the wheels very easy and it will even allow you to reach into tight areas between the caliper and wheel.
Its a bit pricey but worth the money. Mine has held up very well for the amount of use I have given mine.
