InvisibleMask Warning

I installed an InvisibleMask on my 2002 996 Turbo in early January of this year. There were a couple of places where I didn't install it perfectly and today I decided to just take it off. I started with the small mirror pieces. The first one came off fine, the second one took a good sized piece of paint with it! See picture below. Obviously, I'm not going to take the hood or fender pieces off until I figure out how to do it safely. Has anyone else had this problem? Do I have any recourse with InvisibleMask?

Ouch I would take it to a reputable clear film installer and have them remove this. Seeing as to how strong the film bonded to the paint, they may be reluctant. You should also call the manufacturer of the film and see what kind of warranties they have when things like this happen. Once the film is removed, have a pro install a solid brand like ventureshield, xpel, or 3M. Some things are best left to the pros. Glad you didn't damage things further; that mirror shouldn't be too expensive to repaint.

I don't know how invisible mask compares to Venture Shield, but we remove Venture Shield by heating it up a good amount with a heat gun, and slowly pulling it off. Generally if paint peels it's because of poor prep work done on an aftermarket paint job, or a poor install job where the installer of the film cut the paint to trim the clear mask, and it peels right up in that spot. Good luck with that. Might be a good time to have the whole front end re-shot, and do a full wrap from the mirrors forward with Venture Shield.

I contacted InvisibleMask and they say the film is made by Venturetape which is owned by 3M. Is VentureShield associated with Venturetape? They gave me an installer located not too far from me so I'll get them to look at it. By the way, it's a 2002 996 turbo and has never been repainted and always very very well cared for.

VentureTape is VentureShield. If it hasn't been repainted, I bet the previous installer cut the paint.
