FLEX on its way!

Well...I always like to try new things, So I ordered my FLEX polisher last night. It should be here before the weekend!

Now, here is the funny part. I told my wife that since I have never waxed her van...that if I got it, I would use it first on the van! Little does she know that I will be using her van to practice on, so if i screw something up, it won't be my car or anyone elses.

I'm not worried about it...looks like it will be a nice tool to have around the garage!

Once I have a little time with it, I will post back here what I think verse the PC I have been using for the last few years.

shouldnt be much different and you should be able to handle/work with it the same, still harder to burn paint than the rotary, but a touch easier than the PC. I personally dont see the need for that plus a PC, but to each his own. PC/5.5"orange handles most everything, unless its a mercedes, then its rotary only.

Don't be surprised if it fights you a little more than the PC, but the time it needs to do the same work will be much less.

That's a smart way to polish your wife's vehicle for practice.

IMHO, the FLEX XC is the best tool a DIY can have. The PC simply cannot fully utilize the polish/pad combo that are coming out from companies like Menzerna. If you want a tool that corrects almost like a rotary but is as safe as a PC, then the FLEX XC is your answer. We've done head-to-head comparisons between the flex and the pc, using the same pad, same polish, and same time, the flex will outperform the pc every time. Great buy and look forward to seeing your results.

I have been tossing up getting a Flew (actually just a matter of pulling the trigger I know I want it) and fully continue to use my PC with 4 inch pads for tighter work and then use it for glazes and sealents.

Looking forward to your review. It's either a Flex or DeWalt for me next, just can't decide.

FLEX Follow up!

Ok...my arms are killing me! I ended up doing two cars this weekend with the FLEX. The cars were an 08 Corvette Z51 and my 08 VW GTi.
The vette has about 20K mikes on it and is pretty much a daily driver. The paint was in pretty good condition, but not perfect.

The VW is pretty nice shape...so I had just did the sides of the car along with the rear hatch. With the car being white, I had a few of the little rust marks on the sides from the brake pads.

FLEX:
This is a nice machine, it has a nice quality feel in your hands.
The trigger is very easy to control the speed of the motor, this gives you more control over where the pad is going! I found that I could get very close to the edge of the moldings without having to tape everyone off.

The motor on the FLEX is powerful. It seems to have more torque to it...making the pad work more. It is a little hard to describe, the PC just seems to float over the paint where the FLEX seems to bit into the paint better. The balance of the machine is great as well. The FLEX does not make your hands and arms hurt or tingle like the PC does. After doing both of these cars my arms felt fine other than being tired.

I think that after a few more cars, I will have the FLEX all figured out.
As a polished, I really liked it. I think the next car I do, I will use the FLEX to polish and then use the PC jsut to apply the final wax finish.

I'm very happy with my purchase...and think most people will like the FLEX. Having a PC as well, I can now choose my weapon.
Here are a few pictures of the cars. Let me know what you think.
I also happy to answer any questions that you may have.

Little background too..I have been detailing cars for about 22 years. Always looking to do a better job with the new tools that become available to us. I would say that I'm a decent backyard detailer.

That's a hell of a good work man. The Corvette is nice and shiny. What part of the panel you taken the photo from on the Vette?

The picture of the Corvette is of the hood of the car...

I wish the weather was better, I would move the car outside for better pics.
