Paint Protection film, or NOT ?

I don't like chips, yet I have owned cars for 40 years ... sure they get chips.

I'm toying with the Protection film idea.

Yet, I LOVE to polish my cars. I LOVE the satisfaction of the deep finish glow.

I'm thinking this Protection film will not allow me to buff the car for the look that I love.

as detailers, what do you guys do?

Do you skip the protected portion when detailing a vehicle?
Do you suggest this film?

After all im not sitting on a plastic bag to protect my seat, Im not changing out my floor mats every 6 months.

How Crazy do we go with this protection idea?

Personally I would get the film installed. Some of the newer films are much flatter and have less texture then the older films and are less noticeable.

As a detailer I deal with many car that have clear film and I do clay and they can be polished and waxed, but extreme caution must be used when doing so as the film is much more delicate then the paint and can easily be damaged...

I like it. I install it. Others who have it installed like it.

Go look at some cars that have a quality install and see what you think.

It's definitely recommended to protect your paint. Generally full panel coverage is the only way to go. If properly maintained, paint protection film will look excellent years down the road.

I would recommend the clear film. Had it on my 07, Lexus SC430-black- held up great for 2 years......have it on my 09- 997.2 (black). I wax it and it comes out looking shiny and is barely noticeable.........................

Highly recommend, nothing worse than paint chips except numerous paint chips...........

I am getting clear film installed on Friday. Any recommendation about getting my car detailed to prep the new car? I live in Marina del Rey.

When I first heard the name Clear Bra, visions of the latest Victoria's Secret catalogue designs ran through my head. I just had to investigate, strictly in pursuit of car care related information, of course.

Clearly; the best protection if you’re proud of your vehicle. Paint Protection Film (PPF) AKA Clear Bra is a thermoplastic urethane film that is applied to the leading painted surfaces of a new or used car in order to protect the paint from stone chips, bug splatter and minor abrasions.Designed to provide years of protection against road debris, environmental elements, bugs, and abrasions and it can be removed without harming painted surface. The film has UV inhibitors to maintain the clarity for the life of the installation. It will not change color or turn yellow.

My supplier has told me that Ventureshield allows UV rays to penetrate so that there are not two different shades of paint if the ppf were to be removed.

It's highly recommended especially on a daily driver. If properly installed you can not see it.. but just remember if you want quality you're gonna have to pay for it.
