Porter Cable Intro Polish/Wax Kit Special

This is THE kit for the DIYer that wants to upgrade to polishing and waxing with a safe machine. For years, the Porter Cable DA Polisher has been the choice polisher for DIYers for its ease of use and economics. We're now adding the basics for a proper polishing and waxing in one simple and economical kit.

Joining the PC are some of the best and easiest products on the market. You'll begin your polishing process by using our GP White CCS Polishing Pad in conjunction with the einszett Paint Polish. This critical step will polish the paint surface, safely and effectively, preparing for the wax step. Waxing has never been easier as you apply the einszett Glanz Wax using our GP CCS Red Finishing Pad. The finishing pad and the PC give you an even and smooth application of wax. Finally, wipe the surface using our fine Korean Microfiber Polishing Cloths and reveal a gloss and shine never possible by hand.

Moe, is this as safe as using the Flex for a novice? I don't have much hands on time with these, so I don't want to do any paint damage.

It's actually safer than a flex. It won't have the same torque as the flex, which means it's not going to quite correct as well or be as efficient, but it's a great tool to get started. You can always then sell the unit and upgrade to a flex. So if you just want to get your feet wet and take it up a notch from doing things by hand, this kit is perfect for you.

Great. The tracking says it's supposed to arrive on 10/13, and I have the week of 10/18 off, so even though I don't think my paint has too many defects, I'm looking forward to taking my time with it.

Make sure to post some before/afters or just afters. Would love to see how it all turns out.

Moe the question i had in mind was:

Is there such a thing as overpolishing the car to get it ready for wax ?

Thanks .

It all depends on the polish, polisher, and the pads you're using. The PC kit we have on special is basically a good kit that does what you'd be doing by hand, but it's more efficient. If your vehicle is always garaged and only driven few times a week, then claying, polishing, and waxing every 6 months is a good idea. If it's a daily driver, a quarterly routine is recommended.

Waxing with a PC will make things easier since it's faster and the application is more even.

Well, I finally got up the nerve (and had two days where I didn't have anything else planned) to use the PC 7424/1z Intro Special. I clayed the car first, and then used the GP white pad with 1z Paint Polish, followed by the GP red pad with 1z Glanz wax. I did both at the 4-4.5 speed settings on the PC, and the total time, including the 2 bucket wash, only took about 6 hours.

I don't think the paint was in that bad of shape to start with, so I don't see a huge improvement. But some of that is undoubtedly due to the lighter color of the car (speed yellow). If nothing else, I feel better knowing that I did something good for my car. You know a clean car ALWAYS drives better! I took some before pictures but didn't have good light to take the afters, so I'll post them when I can.

Moe, if I wanted something a little more aggressive to remove some deeper scratches next time, what would you recommend? Also, I ordered some wheel cleaning supplies last night. Looking forward to getting those in.
