Cleaning black tire marks off clear bra
Cleaning black tire marks off clear bra
I did a search and rtfm and saw that people are using 3m adhesive removal to remove the black tire marks off their clear bras. I did it and while it came out, it looks like it removed part of the bra. I tried other things people said like Plexus, wd40, wax, old fashioned elbow grease and it didn't come out.
Is this because I didn't have wax on the bra?
Is there a way to remove these marks now without ruining the bra?

PlastX!!!
As a pro detailer having clients that track their cars regularly I deal with this alot and I've found one product to out perform all others that I've tried. You can get it at most local stores as well.
It's PlasteX made by Meguiars, I believe it's a white bottle. It' works great but you may need to rub a little on some of the more stubborn spots and it will not hard the film at all. I'm very glad I found this product as I was like you trying things that just didn't work well enough or harmed the film.

Now I need to order a cleaner.

Yup, I use premier's tr cleaner and it works great! I tried plexus, meguiars, and a few other products before. Was quite frustrating to clean the bra until I found out about this. I'd estimate me saving many hours of elbow grease on cleaning the shield.
I recommend the new Avery Dennison "Nano Fushion" PPF.... for future installs
100% non marking, you can literally take the black band of a G-Shock watch, scuff the film......see the black mark it left?...just wipe it with a MF towel and it's gone....other films the mark transfers and it's a royal biatch to remove...IMO
I just had this applied on my 2006 Denali after removing the old 5 year film that was marked up and failing. Fortunately my installer warrantied the old one (Avery Dennison 1st generation PPF) and installed the new one FREE
and it comes with a "Limited Lifetime Warranty" you can't beat that!!

TTR was designed specifically to attack transfers of any type without breaking down the topcoat of the clear bra. Thanks!
