Wheel detaining question

Does anyone know where I can find a wheel shield for 19" and 22" wheels? Most of the ones I have seen are for up to 18". The only one I have seen that goes to 20" skips 19" and does not go up to 22".

If you don't know what a wheel shield is, it's something to cover the wheel when spraying tire shine products. I have a couple that I made out of cardboard but they are not ideal as the commercially manufactured ones have nicer handles and are slightly curved to fit wheels better.

I find that rub on shines tend to go on very thick. The first time you take the car out, the stuff gets pulled off the tire via centrifugal force and ends up splattered all over the sides of the car. Even if you don't drive the car for 3-4 days after you wash it and put the tire shine on it still happens.

With a spray, you can control how much goes on. I have tried everything. I really mean everything. Consumer products from stores, pro products that are water based and solvent based. Gels, foams, liquids, everything. The absolute hands down best stuff is actually the stuff from Sam's club that is sold in a 4 pack. I forgot the name but it is da bomb. The foam stuff from Costco is absolute crap because it gets all over the place and goes on thick. This stuff gives you a really nice sheen with very little effort. You just have to make a cardboard cover for the wheel prior to spraying. Also, you can't use it where it's windy because it will get all over the car. The best thing to do is roll up on a couple of paper towels under each wheel and spray the tires in the garage.

To prevent sling, let the rub ons sit for awhile and then rub the excess off.

Personally, my favorite tire shine right now is this stuff

http://www.autogeek.net/wg4700.html

gives a great matte finish

I've never been a fan of spray ons, but everyone has their preference.

We buy the Wet Look from Gliptone in a 5-gallon bucket and paint it on with a brush.

I agree, Wolfgang is great. Tried that on my car a while back, wiped on, let sit, wipped again. A half hour later took car out and was driving in the 130's. No sling of funny spotting, worked very well. I use 303 on my car. It does not last long, but because I wash my car often, I like that it comes off very easily.
I dont like sprays for many reasons. Tried a few times, never again.

I went to Target and found a rubber trash can that had the right size top. Works fine and cost $6
