350Z Re-Do
I did this car for a co-worker almost a year ago. He had a neighbor's detailer go at it a few weeks back and he marred the HELL out of the finish. So here I come in to do it over (sorry I don't have any before shots, i started at 6 a.m. and it was real dark out)
Used SSR 2.5 w/ an orange propel pad and another pass w/ a green pad
Followed up w/ Natty's Paste wax
he has an old beat up civic as his DD and he said this other "detailer" tried to polish spots of it out but said the paint was dead. He had tried the same thing but to no avail. So I asked him to let me do a little corner real quick and see how it comes out.
here is the trunk deck (you can see the spot I polished to the right)

after:

Needless, he was impressed and a little pissed. He's **** like me and now he was upset cause he knows the car can look good and now he's gonna have to take care of it. He's a nice guy and always sits around asking questions while I detail and helping him out. I told him this car would be a perfect place for him to practice on. So I left him my equipment to practice on the civic. He called me about 8 hours later to tell me he was done. I'm gonna inspect it this week and see how he did on his own
BTW, did I mention this was an hour drive away, i spent 4 hours there and did it all for free  I like keeping customers happy to much

Good job scott. The finish on Hondas are notorious for swrils and spiderwebbing. The paint is way soft. My girlfriend had a '02 civic that was black. We could never keep that thing up. Now that she's got a new jetta gli, it is very easy to care for. She does it all herself.

Nice job on the Z! Few questions for you though.
What speed do you run your orbital polisher?
You used 2.5 only for the polishing phase? It's not necessary to use 2.0 and 1.0 after?
Was that 2.5 as well on the black car?
TIA
Robert

I've gotten pretty good w/ my pad usage and didn't need to follow up w/ anything after 2.5 other then stepping down a pad. Most people probably will need to.
Yes it was 2.5 on the civic as well. I usually run the orbital at 5, i'll bump up to 5.5 on occasion if I have a lot of product laid down.
