Pleasure or Chore

Just was wondering why you guys care for your cars? I sometimes detail my truck as therapy and other times for work; beig a detailer I don't have a choice but to have a shiny rig Either way, I enjoy what I've accomplished when done.

After learning the system from you, it is a pleasure - especially the Zymol products ...

Until I hurt my back it was therapy but now it is almost as bad as hell...I now need the instant gratification and if I do it myself I spend the next 2 days flat on my back. "if" and that is a BIG if my back gets better I would like to know the proper ways from a well trained professional like you so I can do it myself...The same reason I have always worked on my own car.

Sorry to hear that JP, I had the same problem. I changed my routine a bit, use a chair when doing wheels and claying, polishing, waxing, etc. And this little magic pill: L-Lysine, it's an amino acid and you can get it anywhere. Try it. After a week, you'll feel it and you'll wonder what you did without it. Just take one or two a day.

For me it's a chore. I love doing maintenance on my car, but HATE detailing. Maybe I'm not doing it right.

moe, interesting thread. i learned the joy of keeping a car looking great from my dad many years ago. he has driven porsche's since 1982 and has always told me that no matter what kind of car i had, the one thing you can always do is keep it in a great shape. so, through vw's, mazda's, honda's, land rover's and two porsche's, i have always tried to keep them washed and waxed. sometimes, through trial and error. so when i discovered griot's garage, i liked the way they have a system and line of products that seems like they would be pretty easy to use. i have found though, even still a loyal griot's customer, that when its just me and my car on the weekend with products i have never used before, it gets frustrating. i am sure i am not alone.

I enjoy it as much as driving them.
Built my house specifically with 1000+ SF garage in basement. A/C, heat, stereo, flat screen, etc.

I enjoy spending time in the garage with my my rides. Detailing, Maintenance, Fabrication, Modifications or what ever they need,
I just wish I had more time to spend in the garage

I detail corporate jets for a living, so time in the garage with the cars is relaxing.

The AZ heat (since I moved here in June) has made it more of a chore. I have had to have the car detailed professionaly. Once it cools off I will take pleasure in doing it myself.
