Paddle shifter vs Stick

I don't own a ferrari but I was just wondering why everyone loves paddleshifters. I mean I know it is faster and you are in control but it isn't like you have total control right, will it will shift at redline if you don't right? Also can't you drive it where it shifts itself like an automatic? I am no league to own a Ferrari but I alway pictured if I had one it would have the metal gate and the stick.

Can you even get a 599 stick?

"Everyone" doesn't love flappy paddles. People who think they're Schumi and/or can't properly drive a stick love flappy paddles.

well, the f1 transmission you see in high end exotics are actually real manual transmission. they are just controlled by a computer instead.

i also do believe they redline if you don't shift them though...unless you have it in auto mode.

true! i've done it a few times, i find myself having to explain this to people more often, esp the ones with the "tiptronic" type auto tranny that u can shift manually

as opposed to the manual tranny that shifts automatically LOL

Paddle Shifter vs Stick

I have a F360 and i love the paddle shifter. The only good with stick is a lot cheaper on maintenance than a paddle shifter.

The 430 is designed around the F1 tranny I had extensive conversations with lots of people during my hunt in the past month, thats what shyed me away from a 6MT 430 I had my eyes on, they are also hard as hell to sell.

With regard to the F1 keep in mind it started with the last year 355, then the 360 while it works well the functionality of it in the CS (2004) last yr 360 is better then early year 360's i.e. 1999-2000, 2001 and up they made some changes. However when I was looking for a while at 360's (non CS) I would have considered only a 6MT

With regards to the QP issue tranny is not the same nor is the engine, they had lots of issue with the smoothness and the 360 F1 is no tranny for a 4 door sedan this is why they went to an Auto in the QP now.

cs is semi auto, you have to change up yourself but it will change down for you. I loved the manual 355 spider i had but f1 in cs is pretty special

Yes you can the get the 599 in stick, but nobody does.

The car will shift automatically at 8000RPMs in sport mode and the lesser traction modes. If you are in race or CST-off it will let you bounce it off the rev limiter all day.

The 430, and the 599 were designed with the F1 gearbox in mind. The way the engines rev and when you combine that with the traction control systems it's just foolish to forgo the f1 transmission. F1 is nothing like tiptronic btw.
