360 spyder f1 transmission newbie question

I test drove a 2004 360 spyder today and was having issues with the transmission. When in auto mode it popped out and went in to neutral without my initiating it, and when in manual mode when switching from 1st gear to 2nd gear it just went straight in to 4th gear. Is the transmission usually this finicky or was I doing something wrong or does this car have some issues? My brother is looking to buy it but not if this is a serious transmission issue. Thanks for your advice.

I have heard of them going into neutral if the clutch is worn.

Sounds like it may have transmission issues. I would avoid this car, the F1 tranny is known to be a lot higher maintenance than manual. Unless absolute must, I would avoid pre-430 F1s period.

First of all, you should never actually USE the automatic button! Ask any Ferrari tech! Also it is harder to drive it in automatic mode.

Second, my F1 would shift into neutral when I was due for a new clutch. Hasn't done it since!

Did they give you the percentage of clutch wear? That could answer your question right there!
