Initial impressions of my 458 italia

Unfortunately Cleveland has had record amounts of rain in April and may and I have had no chance to drive my 458 until today. I am absolutely amazed at how easy and comfortable it is to drive. The 599 GTB is supposed to be the ultimate grand touring car made for long drives. I have to say that the 458 is a better grand touring car. In addition, the steering is so precise and accurate that i think it is going to be a blast on a road course. I think Ferrari really hit the mark with the 458. It is a true daily driver and just as easy and comfortable to drive as a 911 turbo, maybe even easier. What makes it so special versus anything else is the incredible noises it makes. When you run through the gears, there is nothing that sounds better. Then, when you hit the brakes hard to slow down, it downshifts perfectly and you feel like Michael schumacher. I just can't say enough about the 458. It is everything a Ferrari should be. And it is one of the best experiences you will ever have. I can't wait to drive it tomorrow!

nice!! im surprised that its as comfortable as a 911, i would of thought it would be harsher, but thats good to hear i remember the thread when you initially got it and its sure a beauty!! so have you grown to having all of controls on the steering wheel?

The controls on the steering wheel were initially awkward. However, I am actually enjoying the fact that everything is right at my fingertips.

I haven't driven either but I sat in both 458 and 911 Turbo extensive lengths of time and the 458 was more comfy to me, as well. I was 6-2 270 lbs at the time and looking for the most comfortable exotic for my big butt. Of all the exotics I tried the 458 came out on top. This is for comfort only. My top 3:
458
911
R8

I'm not enamored with the 458 looks though. I'd still go with it. It is a hot car and its comfy enough to drive around town. Can't wait to drive one. That won't happen until Im ready to buy.

Same here, and more spacious in the cabin and in the trunk too.

I think it's incredibly comfortable. The buttons take some time to get used to on the steering wheel. Also, there are all kinds of interesting things you can do. Left middle button behind the wheel changes input on stereo for example and right middle one activates voice mode (uh or is that vice versa). Also things like hold main menu for 2 secs and you get the speedometer with display for stereo input (aka ipod). right behind the wheel buttons toggle track on Ipod. Etc etc.
Oh, and if you haven't done it yet. Use the voice command training to get the voice command trained to you. It actually helps quite a bit.

I definitely need to spend some time with the manual to go over all the techie stuff. I was just happy to finally get her on the road!

Let me know if you change your mind, I'll be waiting out front
Met a gentlemen at our local track and he stated the same "they did it right with this one, perfect" I was surprised with how much room was in the trunk and cabin, beautiful looking and the sound, I just followed for a couple of laps just to listen to the gear changes.
