Advise for a F430/612

Hi guys,

I dont have a ferrari yet but have started the hunt. I am looking for a low miles 612 or f430.

Since i am planning on a used car, can someone tell me what to look for and ask about a used ferrari? what would be the most important thing to know before buying a used ferrari. Sounds a dumb question but i have learned that different cars have different problems and would appreciate some guidance in my purchase.

Ask for the full maintainence history and records. Bring it to a good ferrari shop/dealership to check it over before you purchase. Those are two most important things. Ferraris are very expensive to maintain so be sure not only was all maintainence was done but that it was done correctly and at the correct mileage.

warranty is key here.... that and maintenance records....alpine6spd summed it up pretty good ^^^ Good luck on your hunt hope you find what you are looking for!!

BTW, is there a reason that you are looking for 2 totally different models?? the 612 and 430 are quite different.

Thanks guys for your input.

Having difficulty getting service records from used dealerships. Ferrari dealerships have too much mark up for their cars but are not necessarily looking when I looked at one dealership.

I am thinking about buying from a non-ferrari dealership. Cheaper by $10-15T.

I like either a f430 or a 612.

Can someone tell me the major differences of the two? I have an idea but of course, I just read them online. I may have missed somethings.

I know I am almost there. After this, I am done and will be back to be a penny saver like I used to be.

They are very different. One is mid engined an one is front engined one is a V12 and one is a V8. The 430 is a sports car where the 612 is mroe of a GT car. If your looking for comfort and will sacrifice handling and the raw feel of a true ferrari sports car then go with the 612. I am not a fan of the styling on the 612 and I love the F430. I would go with the F430 because its truly what Ferrari is about IMO. Mid engined high revving natuarally aspirated V8. The 612 is more of a car that is no so beloved by Feraari owners/fans from what I have seen. Its up to you but I would take a 430 10 times out of ten against a 612.

You really need to drive both.

Also, you may want to look for a local Ferrari ownwers club. They may be able to give you more insight.

F430 is a sports car and 612 is a GT. Couldn't be more different. Also 612 is butt ugly.
