buying a 458 italia in a few days

hey guys

its my first time to post in the ferrari forum . i am a few days away from buying a 458 italia 2012 white with red interior .

well 2 things i need to know before doing so

the only thing that is making me go for a new 2012 is the 7 year maintenance that comes with the car plus the warranty . its about 40,000 usd more than a used 2010 one is it worth it ?

the second thing is i know the 458 italia is a relatively a new car would hate to pay that much and for Ferrari to ditch this model when do you expect ferrari to change the 458 italia .

thanx
khalid

The 458 should be around in the coupe and spider forms for another 4-5 years if current lifecycle patterns hold true.

The '12 model has some other differences. The Mannetino and ECU drive logic, from what I have read, has changed. More of a "kick in the seat of the pants" feel than the '10 and '11 models. I have read the official release on this, but don't have it handy. The software changes should be available for earlier production models at some time in the near future.

If you are planning on keeping it stock, in my opinion get the '12.

Definitely go with the 7 year maintenance plan! It is definitely worth it in my opinion! Let us know when you pull the trigger for it, very much interested to see it. If you decide to get some new wheels for it, we have a pretty good selection of high-quality forged wheels!

I agree with the others - go for the '12. 7 years of free maintenance may not be that valuable to someone who drives it only a couple K per year, but if I had one of those I'd probably put 10K+ a year on it and that free maintenance would be well worth it. The 3 year warranty may come in handy as well. Best of luck and please share some pics when you have her!

So I have to ask - are you planning on driving it or just looking at it in your garage? I know allot of folks who have cars of this caliber and they drive them just a couple thousand miles a year which I think is a shame. The way I look at it is that I'm buying the car for ME to enjoy, not to save money on resale and not for the next guy to enjoy...

P.S. Sorry for the little diatribe there - I just had a conversation with a friend of mine about this very topic today and my blood is still boiling a bit from that. Don't mind me...

Perfect! LOVE the Rosso interior and the red brake calipers will tie the exterior to the interior quite nicely! You have great taste!
