Scud vs GT3 RS track costs???
Scud vs GT3 RS track costs???
What kind of yearly costs am I looking at with these two cars? Local dealer said $20k for pads and rotors alone for Scud - every 5-6 track days.?.? I am looking for a list of expenses I can expect to track a car 5-10 times per year. Thanks.
I want you to run far away from that dealer if thats what he is telling you.
Tracking can mean a lot of different things. DE events or full open track events over an entire weekend with major hours on track.
Seriously if your going to track a Ferrari maintenance cost should be as far from your mind as possible. The real hit is in resale on a tracked F car, plus most of the modifications to make it safe are irreversible and worth nothing at the end of the day.
If its going to be a pure track car seriously look at something like a radical or buy something already prepped its just flat out cheaper and easier. Even my Viper has got to be orders of magnitude cheaper then a Scud to track and that is saying something.

Based on the number of track days you are looking at:
Brake Fluid flush at beginning of season and maybe on your 6th or 7th track day
Oil change and fluid flush at beginning of season and after 5 or 6 track days as you are pushing the engine harder
My recommendation on brakes is switch them out to steel, much cheaper to run. Put big Brembo's on front and rear. They work real well. One set of brake pads should get you through one season. Try Pagid Yellows or Ferrodo Performance pads, they will work better. Rotors should last you 2-3 seasons.
Alignment after each new set of tires
You will likely go through 2 sets of tires, Pirelli P-Zero Corsa or Micheline Sport Cups
Add all that up and budget about $10 K plus track fees. That is if nothing breaks of course but Scuds are pretty sturdy. The dealers quote is for Carbon brakes which comes on the Scuds and they will cost that much. That's why I recommend switching out to steel setup. Put the carbon brakes back on when you sell the car.

That is a comment i saw on this forum from a guy who is an instructor in a Ferrari school with Scuderias. The ceramic brakes performs slightly better that steel ones but they cost much more. Simply they dont worth the extra $
