Is a 360 the black sheep?
Is a 360 the black sheep?
I'm torn bt buying a 355 v 360...I absolutely love the 355 look better, but the 360 is newer, less problems, better tech... I recently read Jeremy Clarkson's write up on the battle, he doesn't like the 360 and it's a dagger to my heart. I've really narrowed down to 4 vehicles: 2 are 355 Spiders, red/tan manual, the other 2 are 360's...
The 355 has proven iconic. Will the 360 be as well? Thoughts?

To me, the 355 is the more aesthetically appealing of the two, yet I would have the same concerns as to its age, vis a vis a 360. The 355 is like the 430 - an evolution of an earlier less appealing design (348/360). I also like the the 355 because it evokes the design of the 288 GTO (I know it based off the 328) which is one of my all-time favorites. Sure others have differing opinions; this is just my thinking.
**one caveat on the 360 - the Challenge Stradale version is preferable to the 430.

360 is a modern Ferrari. 355 isn't. Big difference in terms of feel, reliability and maint cost
A belt change in 360 is a couple of grand. 355 it is an engine out job which is just crazy
I don't consider either a reliable car. 430 is much better in this regard.

Well thank you all - after talking with our local Ferrari/Lamo mechanic here I pulled the trigger on a 360F1, red/tan...8800 miles on it and fresh belt and clutch. I must say as I still like the lines of the 355 better, but maintaining one closes the gap considerably on the more expensive 360. I would have liked a 6speed, but the wife wants to drive it too, and for arguments sake, I went from 6speed to PDK with my 911, and I don't miss shifting at all. It's truly personal preference. It's snowing and cold here in OHIO, can't wait for the weather to break!

I would have gone with the 360 as well. Mainly because it looks more modern. It would have been a tough choice though since the 355 is one of the cars that made me notice Ferrari in the first place.
