Auto Motor und Sport 430 vs Gallardo

from Rennteam...

There's a comparison between the F430 and the Gallardo in today's issue of "auto motor und sport" magazine.

briefly: the F430 wins by 486 to 429 points (very clear for AMS comparisons)

here's my translation of their conclusion:

"never was a ferrari this sophisticated. engine, handling, driving safety, even comfortable suspension -- everything is top-notch. side airbags and lower fuel consumption would have increased the score."

F430
0-100 3.9 sec
0-200 13.0 sec
80-120 4.5 sec (V. gear)

GALLARDO
0-100 4.2 sec
0-200 13.8 sec
80-120 6.3 sec (V. gear)

Unfortunately, they did not do any track times.

However, they state that the F430 is "by far" superior to the Gallardo in terms of handling. A strong statement, isn't it?

Oh great, you just had to get Allan started... This is going to turn into the "430 or Gallardo?" thread.

I have, and we disagree, but that's what makes the world go 'round. I prefer the lighter weight and nimbler reactions of a rwd car. My 430 will come off the production line next week and I would never choose a Gallardo over it, in fact I prefer the 360 to the G.

I would take the F430 over the G, why ? The disappointing Audi based interior in a 180k car, the AWD (I want the feel of a RWD car), the small looks of the car compared to other Lamborghinis. Now If this was a Murcie or Diablo 6.0, I would definetly have a different opinion. Overall the F430 is superior to the G, except in every day drivability, maintence costs are almost equal now, looks well are opinion, but I like the F430 better, the interior in the F430 is more pure and Italian then the obvious Audi G interior.

All in all, can't wait to see what Ferrari will have in store with the 430CS, now that the Piton is out we know what to expect from Lamborghini.

Do anyone here consider ferrari with its dual gas tank close to hot manifolds a risk high enough to justify getting the safer gallardo? I heard of a 360 bursting into flames in taiwan when the owner just picked it up and driving on the way home.

"Disappointing Audi interior" has been adressed and resolved on the SE and the spider so....Now you can get painted interior, CF, perforated leather, etc...Just costs more like with Porsche

come on now. i saw a black G in weston yesterday and a yellow G on storrow today. i always without fail see one on newbury in front of armani. they are hardly the rare car. i will admit that in a few months time, there will most likely be a lot of 430's around as well. the AWD is def. something that is needed up here in the east but anywhere else, I would stick to 2 wheels. this just looks like another 430 vs. G thread
