As stated in the subject, what kind of oil am I supposed to use for the car? Checked the levels today and it's slightly low. Can't find the right manual either Does it make a difference to check the oil level when it's hot or cold?

Much appreciated!

If you don't know whether to check when it's hot or cold, DON'T TOUCH IT. Should a F430 be low on oil, you probably have a problem the dealer needs to look at. If you happen to overfill by even a half quart, you run the risk of mucking up the car. My seven year old 360 has never needed oil between oil changes and I don't putt-putt around.

By checking the oil when the motor is warm, your not getting an accurate reading. The oil is still lubricating the motor, and it has not all settled in the reservoir. Let the car sit, on a flat surface for a while to get an accurate oil reading.

And why not just call the Ferrari dealer about proper oil?

Thanks, wanted to do it myself as the dealer is closed during Christmas up until 3 of Jan 2007. Don't want to wait till then if it wasn't necessary.

Thanks for the help anyways, appreciated!

Per the owners manual, oil level on the F430 should be checked with the oil warm, the engine idling, and the oil cap/dipstick resting on the oil fill neck.

Wow, against everything I've heard in the past. But, I'd do what the manual says. Sorry for the misconception...
