The new (Sept.) Road and Track shows the Hennessey TT Viper is faster 100-200 than the Veyron, and faster to 200 as well. They were surprised.

That thing is hideous, atleast in the Veyron you're going fast in style.

the veyron killed the viper to 100 though. If anyone has the ***** to turn up the boost on a veyron I give them HUGE credit. Straight pipes and a few more Psi never hurt anyone.........

SSC have no heritage....I'd never pay the prices they are asking for....
Also, as most will agree here, no flames intended, but European cars >> American cars
e.g. in finance we had a case on Ford that shows how they constantly destroy shareholder value...mainly cause they build crap cars

I think you guys are forgetting that even if this or the Koenigssesesgsgsgsgg were to break the top speed record, it wouldn't mean squat, because it would still be the equivalent of a Bentley versus a dragster/kart/etc. The Bugatti is unique because it has style and speed. It weighs a ton, but still performs beautifully. Take any car and put a big enough engine in it and up the boost enough and you too can go to ridiculous speeds. But do you think it would place you at the level of the Veyron? Hell no.

And I didn't know that SSC stood for Shelby SuperCars. What a lame name! They are calling themselves a SuperCar in their name. How about Awesome Automobiles? *rolls eyes*

Car is decent in person, but if you can afford a Veyron, why wouldnt you buy one? Just the fact that the founder of SSC is a DICK would make buy something thats much less of a car.

This made me laugh. I remember back in the day while playtesting for Prodigy (anyone remember that) there was an online game where you could run a soda company. I think I named mine Super Soda or some such ridiculous 8 year old thing.

ahhh the intarweb makes me feel old again.

I'm just curious... what kind of an investment would a Veyron be? Would it still be worth $1.5M in 5 years? Appreciate maybe? Or not?

I'm just trying to wrap my mind around the concept of a $1.5M car... Beverly Hills Ogara has a black one for sale... but I can't imagine anyone buying it and then driving off of the lot. Can you imagine driving it down the 405? I think 99% of Veyron's just sit in a climate controlled garage (garage being a VERY loose term to describe where the ballers park their fleet)

Good for SSC but it's a hideous car. If an American company like Saleen went out and beat the record with the S7, I'd be pretty impressed. The S7 has plenty of its own faults but it's a much better package than the SSC. Also, Saleen has some racing history from the '80s and '90s when they used to be very competitive in Trans-Am racing with their Mustangs. I'm surprised Saleen hasnt tried to beat the Veyron yet with their 1000 hp Twin-Turbo Competition model. I wonder if it has something to do with Steve Saleen leaving his position as president of the company he worked to hard to build.

what about the koenigsegg ccxr? shouldn't that have already beat the veyron? it has almost the same power, and weighs about 1,700lbs less.
