Last Time - What to do Garage Floor WIth???

OK - I have a 6 car garage I want to get an epoxy floor put in on. I'm out in the middle of West TX so there aren't an abundance of professional installers in the area to get advice from.

So what products should I use? I don't want it slippery when wet and I don't want hot tires messing it up - tires will be getting plenty hot out in West TX. And NO rec's for any kind of tiles please.

My goal is to have a product recommended and then have a professional installer do the work - I won't have time for it.

Thanks for any and ALL help!!!

One local guy says he does this all the time with Rustoleum's 2 part epoxy. Is this any good or just average? I want something near the top of the line that is not going to give me trouble in a few years.

how far in west texas are we talking, we travel all over the south east to do some race team shops......we are located in north texas. I can try to help. we also install the most level epoxy surface plate on the planet for the most serious of racer.

anything you can buy as a non professional installer is just that, non professional. it also can never be done in one coat and have anything that looks decent. Most of the products we use are sold only to trained installers due to the 24 minute pot life once you introduce the hardener to the resin. Every coating manufacturer makes all levels of products from home depot brand to what we use. if you are looking for glass slick, the keyword is self-leveling, this means the roller marks go away as the product cures to a glass smooth shine. the other keyword is 100% solids, this term gets thrown around alot but it is directly dependent on how much the product will cover which is simple math. 100% solids at 1 mil thick will cover 1604 square feet, so you can back that up and figure our coats at about 6-8 mils = roughly 200 square feet per gallon. 100% solids also means that there are no chemical compounds that need to evaporate for the product to cure, which = no odor.

if you look in the lower photo at Ganasi's shop you can see the flooring put down was non self leveling due to the orange peel look.

As far as durability goes, all professional grade epoxy and urethane floor coatings are tested for adhesion well beyond what the concrete below it can handle. I have samples of our products we have chisled up with concrete on the back of the coating.

the house is in Midland, TX - approx 300 miles directly West of Fort Worth on I-20. Is this outside of your "territory"? Your work looks incredible. I think I am looking for something with some flecks or specks just to break up the monotomy of the flooring. Also, with the floor being plain like that, it'll show every speck of dirt or material on the ground.

Garage floor coating

Hey guys please check out Premier Garage and their products for the floor. I just had two 3 car garages done and they look fantastic! The top of the line product is guaranteed for 10 years and the price I paid was over 1800 less than Home Depot quoted me for one garage using Rustoleum epoxy. The guys at Premier tell me they remove a ton of the Depot product. They use a high tech polymer that's 40 years more advanced than epoxy and the texture is nice too.

i'm about to commit to having a local handyman do the installation of the epoxy flooring - only choice seems to be the Rustoleum epoxy from Lowe's/Home Depot. This guy has done it on 3 other garages and it looks OK. The garage is also getting it's own HVAC unit put in next week so hopefully everything will turn out all right

I just did my garage (cement slab) and used Onyx stone rocks. They come in 12 X 12 pieces and link together. Once you grout the thing it looks like little stones. I put I high gloss sealer on it and it looks awesome. Only downfall is that you will spend about $10 per ft before installation

DO NOT USE RUST-OLEUM EPOXY! IT WILL COME UP!

My brother, my neighbor, and 2 friends of mine have all applied it according to directions and it has come up on them. 2 of them used it on new, unsealed concrete and it still peeled off under tire heat.

I used the Racedeck floor tiles. I've had them for 3 years or so. They looked great at the beginning and still do for the most part. The only thing that I've done is each spring, split it up in 3 pieces, drag it out to my driveway and powerwash it as well as clean the garage floor underneath. The winter snow and slush from my wife's car get's her side really dirty and nasty. It would be better if I lived in a state that it didn't snow.
