jackshaft
I have one in my side/single garage with my Lift. It is great, no problems, just need electrical within 4 ft of motor. I'd do one in my double as well when the existing regular track one goes out.
No problems and very quiet.
Really cleans up the center of the garage by deleting the track and is ideal if you ever plan on installing a lift.

Thanks, going to place my order then.

We have 4 as well. Two 8x9 doors, one 9x9, and one 12x12. They are very quiet and very efficient. The slow down feature is nice as well, and the battery backups are nice, even with a backup generator, they can come in handy.
(1) 16' + (1) 10' stain grade wooden doors ~$11,000 with (1) 3/4hp Liftmaster opener & (1) Liftmaster jackshaft. Golden Bear Doors in Long Beach.
Garage is currently a WIP so the power cord will be "cleaned" up.

I've installed several of the Jackshaft operators and couldn't be happier. This is the perfect alternative to the Wayne Dalton idrive operator that had issues. Perfect for when you have a lift in the garage and need the overhead clearance.
Amazon.com has them for around $300 each for residential doors. Fairly easy to install. There are several models for the roll-up doors.
