I recently came across an opportunity that was too good to pass up. I live in a high rise and until now handled my parking issues by buying up spaces when the became available (I bought 4). However, the only thing that solved was a place to put the car. My building would issue a fine if you left anything in front of the car (tools, bike....), and I would get weird looks when ever I tried to tinker with a car. So I had no place to store car related stuff.

Back in January I found a 4+ car garage within a garage that is only about 8 blocks from my house. The developer of a building took 5 parking spaces within one of his projects and built himself an oversized garage. The developer recently sold his condo in the building, and that buyer didn't buy his parking. So far, I have just 1 lift installed, but may add another.

Specs: 45 feet wide, 2 doulble commercial rollup doors, separate steel entry door, ceiling 10.5 feet, heated, A/C, alarm system. Beer fridge, 36 inch tv, wall mounted vac., compressor.

 

That is REALLY cool. Do you share the entire parking garage with anyone, or is it "yours"?

 

The building has parking for 90 cars, on 3 levels. My area is the end of a floor, and was walled off separate. So it is a garage with-in a garage.

 

That garage in a garage is sweet! I wish I had that where I live, I'm near the south loop. Is the spyder real?

I am in the west loop, but my space is the only one in the building that is a "garage in a garage" - it was the developers personal space. The Spyder is a Beck...... real deal would be north of a million $.

Nice deal, Becks are cool! I know how exclusive real spyders which is the only reason I asked. I grew up fascinated by Porsches history of engine development, namely the quad cam engine. I have a very big flat 4 in my 914.

 

You've got one hell of a garage for downtown Chicago, that is amazing man.

Damn, that's awesome! Would love to check it out sometime! I'm also in downtown. I bought 2 spots in between two large pillars (so cars are safe from dings), and close to the elavators and security cameras
