Driveway Question...

Not exactly a garage question, but close enough....I'm thinking about re doing my driveway and was considering to lay down tiles rather than straight cement or a mix of both. Do you guys have any recommendations?

If you do tiles you will need to find someone very very good and be on very solid ground. We probably have arround 20,000 square feet if tile and stone at my house including inside and out. We used the best tile guys in the area. However, even with this there are some "loose" tiles where the ground was not perfect underneath and the mortar in between cracked. This can cause water to get inside and cause mold. I can imagine the problem would only be worse with the weight of a car.

Why not do an overlay of stamped concrete?

It can be made to look like tiles.

I just did stamped concrete in a faux green slate. Very satisfied with finished product.

I bet this looks stunning... Do you have any pictures. Also, I think stamped concrete (depending on the style) looks exotic in a very classy way. Good Luck!!

A couple of pix for the faux green slate driveway and patio for the works in progress garage project.

Thanks guys. Actually looks better (more real) after a couple of days. The sealer they finish with has some shine to it, looks more matt now.
Check out the floor finish I decided on: www.diaconcrete.com. Looks like the pix w/motorcycle on it. Best description looks translucent, like marble.

Try stamped concrete with a sand finished border. One of the more cost effective ways to get a dramatic looking piece of concrete. Good luck!

Thanks Ben,
Just trying to hang with you. Yes, it's taken way too long to get done. Missed last weekends Seattle drive b/c of this. Heck, it's only been a year from the planning stage. Light at the end of the tunnel, almost happy.
Hope to see you soon and promise not to drool on your new toy...
