New Spy Shots of the Porsche GT3 RS
Trending Topics
This is a GT3. MANY journalists reported it as the GT2 when the first spy shots surfaced but the ring lapping videos quickly squashed that rumor… nothing but NA flat 6 goodness. The ducts are for cooling of some sort. Not sure if oil, engine, etc.
I had the same thoughts. I honestly don't think it'll look that un-naturally long on the road. It looks like it's been slammed in those pics
Didn't you guys see the post of the GT3 RS seen in San Francisco and being test driven across the USA?? It was amazingly found and photographed by a fellow forum member TurboBoostin! Why look at silly drawings?

IMHO the ducts look cool and absolutely assist (from a design/engineering perspective) in cooling down a NA (or non-NA engine). Most "super" high HP cars have some sort of open duct work to cool the engine. My 458 had its entire engine exposed to the elements with pretty big open rear hood grids which permitted presumptively more efficient cooling. I wish my 599GTO had more hood ducts as the engine gets so hot that it can sizzle eggs even after a short run (better ductwork than a 599GTB but not much better IMHO). My old 996 and 997 TT's also had ducts. The ductwork is a common sight on the TT's so I get the assumption that the RS could be a turbocharged engine. Just pointing out that ductwork IS a common thing whether NA or TT or supercharged engines. Regardless of aesthetics the RS having the engine ducts can only assist in the cooling process.

It's simple… because photos of that exact car in that exact state have been around for months and according to the drawing/scale model images leaked, do not represent production form.
I'm confused. You're telling me the drawings are more accurate than the actual GT3 RS spotted live in person a couple weeks ago? The one that was photographed and being tested by Porsche drivers and being carted around the U.S.?
IMO… yes. Those US pics are nothing new. That same (or an identical) mule has been around for many months in that exact form. Do I know for sure what the production spec RS will look like? Nope, but some people in the know seem to believe that it'll look like the drawings/scale models and I'm inclined to believe them. If nothing else, it offers something more interesting to look at. I'll never get tired of looking at porsche spy shots but this new batch shows nothing new. Does the fact that they show nothing new mean this is very nearly production form? Only time will tell
