2002 GT2 versus 2007 GT3

Folks-

I traded in my 2007 TT, which is the world's greatest street car. I am intending to buy a 2007 GT3 from a friend, with cage, etc, but just had a call selling a very low mileage 2002 ('the widow-maker') GT2. I will be racing and using whatever I choose as a daily driver next year.

What would you choose? Thanks - Gerry

Gt2

+1. GT2 is definitely faster on the street. If you are a very good driver, on the track too. Properly modded, a GT2 will be very hard to beat. That said, the 3 is more fun at saner speeds. The real solution is to have both!

That is probably the most difficult Porsche vs. Porsche choice you can have, for two cars that cost nearly the same.

You can't really lose...

i have to believe that this is a completely different driving experience... the turbo lag (i know only slight) vs. the linearity of the GT3 engine... the monster torque of the GT2 vs. the need to be high revving in the GT3, etc.... are you more of a NA type or a turbo type (from last car, seems turbo?)

I would have to choose the GT3. It's such a beautiful car (not that the GT2 isn't).

If you don't have much track experience, you will definitely find the GT3 easier to drive due to the aforementioned linearity of power delivery. Lumpier power delivery can make certain areas of certain tracks a little dicey, imo. FWIW, I race a 951; yes, it's old, underpowered, and has considerably more turbo lag than a GT2, however, I've had to develop a lot of car specific habits to handle the turbo.

New GT3 for sure. Much rather have a normally aspirated car. Remember too, if all things else were equal you are comparing a new car with waranty against a 5 year old car.
