Dealer with GT3 and New Tires

Hey Guys

I am looking at a used GT3 at a dealer with appox. 1200 miles on car. I was told they put on new rear tires, as there was not enough tread to meet the Porsche Certified PreOwned Inspection. This does not sound reasonable to me. Sounds like car was driven hard and hung up wet for this to occur. Any thoughts?

Could be true, I had all my tires changed at about 2k the first time. Then I got a better alignment for the track which let the tires wear more evenly.

If you are concerned the car has been abused, have them dump the computer log and look for the number of over-revs if you haven't done that already.

on the GT3, due to the rear differential, if one rear tire needs replacing, you cannot have more that a hundred miles or so on it. TRUST ME. if you try to replace just one, the first time you try to accelerate hard, you will think the car is trying to kill you. it will feel very unstable, and loose. this is not just for PACPO guidelines, but any time you need to replace a rear tire on a GT3. rear tires must be replaced as a pair.

Also to add to this, the guideline on a CPO tire tread is 4mm. Can someone measure a Pilot sport Cup or a Pzero corsa tire when new? I don't think it is far from this. Even at oly 10% wear, that would put it close to the 4mm "limit" assuming those are the tires equipped on the car. That should have been taken into consideration that those tires new don't have a lot to begin with unless they were perhaps replaced with PS2s which would have substantially more. Also to add one more note, I have replaced 4 tires on a GT3 at 1200 miles. Let's just say they were used for their intended purpose.
